Trauma Informed Practice and Adverse Childhood Experiences

What are Adverse Childhood Experiences ?

How do they create potential trauma, which we as safeguarding professionals then have to work with.?

As  a result, do we need to alter our practice and working methods to deals with these aspects of peoples lives?

Clearly the answer to the last question is “YES”

Across Sussex there is work going on to promote the understanding of staff, across all agencies.

Funding has been secured and extra training is to be made available.

There are now dates in November and December

In Brighton and Hove it is something we have been looking at for some time.

And having worked closely with Sussex University, we have offered training into this subject for several years now.

All safeguarding professionals should try to take up these offers and attend the sessions available.
