Preventing Abuse & Neglect

The NSPCC estimate that in the UK, over half a million children are abused every year. Abuse is anything that harms a child or young person, and can be physical, emotional, sexual, or can be a lack of adequate or appropriate care, known as neglect. Child abuse can happen anywhere and any child can be abused or neglected.

Keeping children safe involves understanding the different types of abuse and neglect, knowing how to spot the signs, being aware of issues like cyberbullying, grooming, and sexually harmful behaviour, and knowing how to report concerns.
