Local Safeguarding Arrangements

In September 2019, the Brighton & Hove Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) was replaced by the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Children Partnership (BHSCP) in response to the Department of Education’s statutory guidance published as Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018.  This guidance was updated in December 2023 and published as  Working Together (2023).

The BHSCP draws on a positive environment of multi-agency working in Brighton & Hove. We are committed to partnership working headed by NHS Sussex ICB, Sussex Police, and the Local Authority (via the Families, Children and Learning directorate), and with all relevant agencies, local children and young people, and local communities.

Our aim is to promote the welfare of all children and to ensure that children and young people are effectively safeguarded by implementing Working Together (2023) effectively and imaginatively.

The Department for Education provided advice on information sharing for practitioners involved in the provision of safeguarding services to Children and Young People. This guidance reflects GDPR legislation (general data protection regulation) and supersedes previous guidance published in March 2015.
