Harmful Practices Training (Female Genital Cutting and Breast Ironing)

Why is the BHSCP providing this course?

This course will raise awareness, identification and support processes of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Breast Ironing to multi-agency practitioners, enabling them to identify and safeguard those children at risk more confidently. This important multi-agency training is being presented by a very experienced external trainer, who has worked closely with local authorities and police forces to combat these behaviours and can bring personal knowledge to these training sessions.

Target Audience:

Members of staff, who work predominantly with children, young people and their families, parents or carers, and who could potentially contribute to the assessment, intervention and reviewing the safeguarding needs for a child or young person, where there are safeguarding concerns, and or potential risks of exploitation.

  • Identify risk indicators before / after FGM and breast ironing has taken place
