Harmful Practices Training (Honour Based Violence & Forced Marriage)
Why is the BHSCP providing this course?
This course will raise your awareness of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage and the impact on victims/children. Topics covered will look into identification, assessment and reporting processes to support professionals in their safeguarding role.
This important multi-agency training is being presented by a very experienced external trainer, who has worked closely with local authorities and police forces to combat these behaviours and cam bring personal knowledge to these training sessions.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the context of Domestic Abuse & so called Honour Based Abuse
- Explain the definitions of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage in relation to the Government and Policing Strategy
- Risk assess and analyse this risk to support victims
- State how practitioners can identify the risks in an agency setting and use this information to inform a safety plan

Training is free for Children’s Services staff, school staff, foster carers, community/voluntary sector groups, BHCC contracted organisations in Children’s Services, statutory health organisations, police and probation and all early years (including private early years) who are working in Brighton & Hove. For private organisations and those working outside the city the cost is £120.
