Pan Sussex Safeguarding

Everyone in Sussex has a responsibility for Safeguarding.

The Safeguarding Children Partnerships across the county are holding a Virtual Conference.

There will be a of focus will be “Safeguarding the Under Five’s”

It will be a full day event on the 30th November 2021, running from 09.30 x 15.30hrs.

It is open to all safeguarding partners and colleagues from voluntary services.

You can book a place via the Learning Gateway.

We will have various guest speakers, looking at this particular issues and risks for the children we all work with.

These include one of the co-authors of the “Out of Routine” report.

A member of the National Review Panel, talking about their findings into infant mortality and also Non-Accidental Injury.

Also speaking about parental interactions is a representative from The Parent and Infant Foundation (alongside a local service).

Learning outcomes for the day include;

·  Identify the national research around safeguarding the under 5’s

·  Analyse non accidental injury in this age group and how it can present itself

·  Explain the importance of safeguarding the under 5’s and what this looks like in practice

·  Demonstrate an awareness of how to use the information to support your work with families of children under 5

There will also be the opportunity to discuss local initiatives and interventions that we can all access to help reduce risk.
